TO THOSE ENGAGED IN THE MASTER'S MINISTRY
03/21/2017 - What Can You Contribute to the Urantia Movement?
On March 21, 2017, we received this inquiry:
“With all that's been going on with the 3 UB movements, what can you contribute to the conflict that's going on? Or are you behind the effort of the Treatise? With all the many efforts, what makes yours the one to follow? As you well know, some of us long time readers have seen many come and go. But the teachings of the 'book' is what we all adhere to :)) Take care, in His service.”
To the author, thank you for your email. We are happy to respond to your questions:
You asked: With all that's been going on with the 3 UB movements, what can you contribute to the conflict that's going on? We do not want to contribute to the conflict. We have nothing to do with it. We are pursuing a ministry of reintroducing the actual teachings of Jesus. So far, we have managed to stay above the fray and we want to keep it that way. If, on the other hand, you are asking what we are doing to minimize the conflict, then we will say, besides promoting the actual teachings of Jesus, we are also promoting a unified commemoration of The Remembrance Supper. That will do more to unite UB readers than any other activity, project or endeavor.
You asked: Or are you behind the effort of the Treatise? We are aware of the Treatise and believe it offers an excellent solution to resolving the organizational disunity in the 3 main UB organizations. We published it on our site to encourage open discussion, and that is about the extent of our efforts in connection with the Treatise. By now, it appears that the 3 UB organizations are choosing not to try the suggestions and that is, of course, up to them. For our part, we will continue our own ministry.
You asked: With all the many efforts, what makes yours the one to follow? We are not suggesting that people should follow us. Actually, we are looking for, and developing, leaders and teachers of Jesus' actual teachings. Individuals who can start and maintain their own ministries, but working together in spirit. The article we posted, Religion Guided by The Urantia Book, explains our actions and our objectives.
And you also stated: As you well know, some of us long time readers have seen many come and go. But the teachings of the 'book' is what we all adhere to :)) We, too, are adhering closely to the `book,' especially Part IV which is where the instructions and directions are given on how to conduct an effective ministry. We are also aware of the transience of leaders and teachers in the UB movement. Perhaps if they adhered to the teachings of the `book,' they might have been more enduring and more effective.
As for us, we are bold and innovative and are happy to try good ideas, including some of the ideas in the Treatise, even if others are not. For example, we recently sent an invitation to the entire UB community to join us in setting aside April 6th for an annual commemoration of the Remembrance Supper. Perhaps you perceive that such an endeavor should have been initiated by UB leadership and perhaps that is why you are inquiring as to our intentions. We hope these responses have put to rest some of those concerns. What we are interested in is continuing the Master’s Ministry and helping others do the same. And we are hoping to work with all other ministry-oriented UB readers, associations and organization. Reaching out for a united Remembrance Supper is an important first step. We hope you will be joining with us this year on April 6th.
Your Brothers in the Master’s Ministry
